Making the beast with two backs

That's right, besides from today just being another monday when Ron Paul starts taking money from prostitutes (gotta give it up to that guy) and my struggle with Othello, I couldn't go off before I watched this Sour Grapes video of them flavoring Dallas a bit.

"For those of you who are asking...
the paletas are out on the streets so happy hunting and don't forget to send us some pics if you happen to stumble upon one." - SOUR GRAPES

GOTTA CATH 'EM ALL

Oh yeah...sneak peak of a series of skateboards that I'm working on...

Letters

Saturday night F6 Gallery, this underground art gallery for some of the most talented underground artist from the DFW, hosted it's November show called UPPERCASE. I got there quite early and the art was amazing. This gallery brings out some of the recognized names of the art scene and puts them under one roof for you. The clever theme for this show was...of course, letters, making it possible to bring out some graffiti style into the show.

Javi Update

For the past few months I've been doing some small works on my free time. In between work and school I get to do these few pieces:

Purple Haze. This one was mainly inspired by Hendrix's music. I kept on listening to this song over and over feeling th flow of his guitar and trying to portrait that into the painting. I was also influenced by frequent arguments on how the human/nature/cosmos are somewhat connected with each other.

Colourful Foot Fetish.
I can't really say much about this one. It is so spontaneous and raw. Hahahaha. Feet.

Ms. Medula Oblongada.
A few months back, I went to a free Erikah Badu show down at the DMA and I made this sketch of her while she was preforming. I was so drawn to her way of singing and appearance that I it made me do this kind of glowing background.

Triple Threat (DFW).
A week ago The Triple Threat threw a B-Boy battle gig down at the Balck Forest Theater and I made this for the graffiti competition. Of course after not wining I took it back home, took a picture of it, then...slapped it on this blog. Ha haha. Anyways. Is just a wheat paste of Dallas's Skyline and some other designs.

(all of these for sale)

Eye Poppers

Six Letter Word, or Diogo Potes, graphic designer/illustrator comes in with a visual bomb of colors, shapes, hot babes, and diamonds. His style is very raw yet elaborated, making it seems easy to combine colors. I had a little Q&A with him:

I'm just curious about how you became an illustrator?

since very ltlle boy i was connect in some how with skateboard.
make that kind a graphics always was a dream. i think that all came from there

How long have you been doing this?

graphic design 7 years, illustration i guess 5.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

a bit of everywhere; movies, books, art, artists, magazines, internet surfing, old stuff, etc etc etc......

And...What do you see in your future? and the future of art involvement with society?

i wish i can see that...

Re*Cov*Er

If you haven't heard yet, SaveDeepEllum.org started a project called Re*Cov*Er Mural Series. The whole purpose is to bring back the good street art to Deep Ellum area by doing a series of murals of different legendary artist of the DFW area. I ran into this video on their web page, and it's pretty much a recap of how the project went down.

Make sure to go down town and take a tour around these bad ass pieces.

Canned Goods

Torch Ent. is putting this gig together for The North Texas Food Bank to raise funds and of course collect canned foods for the Food Bank. If you're all about donating and supporting organizations like this one, then come over to Tomcats with 3 bucks and some chicken noodle soup. This is for a great cause so come out and support.

A Piece of Mind

A lot of support from artist have come around the issue in Burme. It is important for society to come together and support these people from Burma. They've be under oppression for more than 30 years now and their issue finally made impact on our side of the world. I'm glad to see these sort of wheat pastes up that bringing more awareness.
